Two machine mixed shop scheduling problem with controllable machine speeds

چکیده
This paper considers a scheduling problem in which the objective is to determine an optimal machine speed pair and an optimal schedule. There are two machines A, B and n jobs each of which consists of two operations. One operation is to be processed on machine A and the other on machine B. All jobs are open shop type, i.e., processing order of two operations is not specified and so processing of each job can be started on either machine. Of course each machine processes at most on!! job and each job is processed on at most one machine, simultaneously. Further it is assumed that speeds of machines A, B are controllable. In the situation, the total sum of costs associated with the maximum completion time and machine speeds is to be minimized. The problem is a generalization of two machine open shop problem in a sense that machine speeds are not fIXed but variables. This paper proposes an O(n log n) algorithm which fmds an optimal speed of each machine and optimal schedule.

Two Machine Flow Shop Scheduling Problem with No Wait in Process: Controllable Machine Speeds
The paper considers a two machine flow shop scheduling problem with no wait in process. The objective is to find the optimal values of machine speeds and to determine the time-optimal schedule. There are two machines, A and B, and a set of n jobs each consisting of two operations. The first operation of each job is to be processed on machine A and the second on machine B. For each feasible sche...
متن کاملInvestigation of the two-machine flow shop scheduling problem to minimize total energy costs with time-dependent energy prices
In this paper, the problem of two-machine flow shop scheduling to minimize total energy costs under time-of-use tariffs is investigated. As the objective function of this study is not a regular measure, allowing intentional idle-time can be advantageous. So this study considers two approaches, one for non-delay version of the problem and the other one for a situation when inserting intentional ...
متن کاملA Flexible Job Shop Scheduling Problem with Controllable Processing Times to Optimize Total Cost of Delay and Processing
In this paper, the flexible job shop scheduling problem with machine flexibility and controllable process times is studied. The main idea is that the processing times of operations may be controlled by consumptions of additional resources. The purpose of this paper to find the best trade-off between processing cost and delay cost in order to minimize the total costs. The proposed model, flexibl...
متن کاملCustomer Order Scheduling with Job-Based Processing and Lot Streaming In A Two-Machine Flow Shop
This paper considers a customer order scheduling (COS) problem in which each customer requests a variety of products processed in a two-machine flow shop. A sequence-independent attached setup for each machine is needed before processing each product lot. We assume that customer orders are satisfied by the job-based processing approach in which the same products from different customer orders f...
متن کاملMinimizing the maximum tardiness and makespan criteria in a job shop scheduling problem with sequence dependent setup times
The job shop scheduling problem (JSP) is one of the most difficult problems in traditional scheduling because any job consists of a set operations and also any operation processes by a machine. Whereas the operation is placed in the machine, it is essential to be considering setup times that the times strongly depend on the various sequencing of jobs on the machines. This research is developed ...
